Carrying a Big Stick When Dennis was a very young child, his father took him to the ocean for the very first time in his life. Even before he saw the water, Dennis heard the pounding of the waves. To him, the waves sounded like a huge monster. His fears were confirmed when he saw the waves rushing in and out, threatening to pull him into the water. To reassure him, Dennis' father gave him a big stick and told Dennis to hit at the incoming surf to keep it under his control. This plan worked for a while. Each time the waves came in, threatening to whisk little Dennis away, he confidently pounded his stick on the sand. Each time, the waves obeyed and went back out to sea. Suddenly, in rushed a huge wave. Bravely, Dennis pounded his stick harder and harder. Unfortunately for him, the water just kept coming. Finally, Dennis panicked. He threw his stick into the air and ran away from the waves. Now when Dennis teaches Bar students, he tells them this story. He explains that most Bar candidates are a lot like that little boy. Throughout their preparations for the Bar, they panic and throw their stick into the air and run. Any structured Bar prep program provides you with a stick. The Bar Secrets® program not only gives you a stick, but it also prepares you to deal with the big waves each time they come in during your preparation and during the actual Bar exam. Periods of panic and self-doubt are a normal experience for all Bar candidates. Successful Bar candidates learn how to overcome them, as Dennis eventually learned to overcome his fear of the waves and learned to love the ocean. |
